One of the lovely walks just around the corner from Woodford House.

Cleeve Abbey is approximately 2 miles away - one of the most perfect examples remaining of a 13th century Cistercian monastery spared by Henry VIII. A little further on is the historic and beautiful little town of Dunster with its castle perched high above the houses. A lovely place to spend a few hours walking, shopping and eating in the numerous inns and cafés. Further on again, past lively Minehead, is the village of Porlock and Porlock Weir next to the sea and for those with good cars (or legs) try Porlock Hill and take in the breathtaking views across the Bristol Channel when you reach the top. For lovers of gardens, there are few better than Hestercombe Gardens, a unique combination of three period gardens covering forty acres including the Edwardian garden designed by Sir Edward Lutyens and planted by Gertrude Jekyll. The smaller Cothay Manor Gardens near Wellington also merit a visit.
